Important Issues in Selecting a TEFL Program

Your investment in time and money make this this section important and it is, in fact, the most important part of this website.

 There are five checklists on the menu to the left that will have questions that you should know the answers to when considering an in-classroom full-time four-to-six week TEFL Certification program.  If a school’s website is not clear - and they often are not - you need to ask the questions directly to the school and/or your instructor.

International phone calls or even Skype are quite inexpensive these days, make a call or send an email and find out.  You want a good return on you investment of time and money.

One of the most important factors to consider first is WHERE are you planning on teaching? 

If you are planning on teaching in Europe, know that there is a general preference there for the CELTA, but the TEFL Certificates of other schools are rapidly gaining acceptance. 

Not everyone can afford the CELTA.

Throughout the rest of the world, there tends to be no preference for a name brand TEFL certification - employers generally look for the minimum international standards.
